Finding God in a materialistic world

Live audio chat with Karl "Sandy" Sandberg, C.S.B.

In his opening comments, Sandy shares an honest account of how he came to find God. At a point of financial desperation, Sandy tells how he felt angry at God. He had devoted his life to serving God as a Christian Science practitioner, but he thought that meant he should be rewarded with a nice house and other material things. He was disappointed when that wasn’t happening. He shares how he came to see that God’s grace was always with him, but that grace was never meant to be manifested in money or materiality, but in spiritual abundance—in the spiritual qualities he already had as part of his being.

Sandy addresses a wide range of issues that chat listeners bring up, including the desire to have a relationship with God; how an understanding of God can help free one from materialism; getting distracted by and absorbed in the Internet, social media, and e-mail; yearning for financial freedom and wealth; dealing with an all-pervasive materialistic culture; gaining the courage to share Christian Science with others; overcoming resistance to Christian Science; and how to keep the faith and find healing when struggling with obvious physical illness and deformities.
