Come Sing in Joyful Praise

Come sing in joyful praise, O happy throng! Sing forth in honor of God's holy name; Lift up your heads, ye halt, ye blind, ye lame; And doubtful ones who say, "I would be strong," Awake! awake! and sing a grateful song.

My Part

Show me my part, O Father dear; help me to climb the hill, And step by step to reach the heights with Thee! Let me look upward, visioning Thy will; Help me to walk in true humility.

Protecting Wings

In the shadow of Thy wings,I wake to Thee,When day is dawning, and the morningBlooms silently.

Taking Offense

Cold and gray in the valleySullenly lies the mist,Till the sun comes over the mountainsAnd turns it to amethyst;Then it lifts and billows and lightens,And slowly it melts away,And the splendor of hill and valleyStands clear in the light of day.

A Prayer

God give me strength to live my lifeAs Thou intendest it to be—Not bound by avarice or by strife,From harshness and oppression free;Above the grasp of greed for wealth,Above the foolish urge for place,Above the bickerings and the stealthThat only lead to self-disgrace.

Love Is with You

Give us patience, Love divine,If the waiting seem too long,Knowing that all power is Thine,Keeping on our lips a song.

A Song

Oh , what a troop of gloomy, hateful thingsHave ofttimes passed before our dreaming eyes,That would have swept us on their ghostly wingsTo darkest haunts, far off from Paradise,Had not a measure, powerful and sweet,Rung joyously and clear within the heart,Till, waking thought, the tones would swift repeatAs each in heavenly chorus found a part;

Give Me Understanding

Dear God, I prayNot for illusive gifts of wealth or fame,For human power, or an illustrious name.
