Poems

"Let your light so shine"

WHEN heavy mists press on the earth And hide the stars from sight; And damp, cold winds so fiercely shriek Through long-spent hours of night; And a tiny gleam from heaven's dome Shines through the parting shroud, How quickly we do lift our eyes And gaze straight through the cloud To that clear star, whose steadfast light Has shone throughout the storm— Nor wind nor mist nor tempest-touched— But shining through the night!

Forgiveness

WITH patience and compassion rate,Out of the treasure of his heart, The Master showed the Father's care Cannot be from His works apart.

From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

Eternal Joy

Whatever mists enshroud the way,I still shall hear the Christ, Truth, say,"My joy is thine eternally; That joy no man may take from thee.

Acknowledgment

Acknowledge God in all your waysAs Love directs your course; The radiancy of grateful praiseEffaces past remorseOr future dread, for good supremeDispels the mesmerizing dreamOf error that would disavowThe glorious, treasure-laden now.

On Upward Wing

The dove of healing, sacred, silent prayer,Uplifted on the wings of gratitude,Will soar afar if human need is there,And prove Love's presence, power, and amplitude.

Be Still and Know

Lashed by the storm,Flinging her waves on high,The ocean seeks in vainTo reach the sky.

Each Dawn and Dusk

These words of power light our way—Each dawn they come: There's God today.

Protection

I shall not fear.
