Was I asking the wrong question?

I was out walking the dog—and was actually very grateful to be doing so. A heavy cough and cold had kept me from enjoying these walks for the previous couple of weeks. I had contacted a Christian Science practitioner to ask for prayer about this and had made much progress.

Later that morning, however, the intense cough returned. I was discouraged and found myself asking, “When will this be over?” Almost immediately, I realized that was not the right question to ask. A different question came to mind: “When will my Father-Mother God love me more than She does right at this very moment?”

My study of Christian Science has taught me that God is ever-present and all-powerful Love. Because this is true, there can never be a moment when I am not completely embraced in divine Love. So I didn’t have to wait to experience it—to be free from every symptom of illness.
