Bend to God

Throughout my childhood and in my early adulthood, I could bend down and touch my toes. It was effortless.

Then at one point, I found I could no longer do it. Though a small thing, it felt as if a limitation was being imposed on me that I didn’t need to accept, so I decided to pray about it. As I did, I came to see that it was right for me, as God’s creation, to be flexible, because flexibility is a quality of God, Spirit.

Mary Baker Eddy implies the mental nature of all bodily action, where she writes: “Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 162).
