Easter hunt

Tad Blake-Weber - Staff

Much like the evergreen trees and twinkly lights that are ubiquitous during Christmastime, eggs, baby bunnies, and vernal scenes pop up everywhere during the Easter season.

While such images hint at renewal (or welcome relief after a long winter!), the true glory of Easter will always be in the message of Jesus’ resurrection—of unending life. Of the Christ that redeems and heals. One could say this is what the spiritual thinker hunts for, setting out to really claim the pure healing love of the Christ.

Nate Talbot’s article challenges us to give up popular assumptions. He asks, “What if you found out today that your life actually has always been spiritual and will be forever uninterrupted? What would you do differently?” (see p. 6). This “finding out” can radically alter how we think about everything.

We also have two articles in which the authors describe “cross and crown” experiences. After Abby Hillman faced a painful betrayal, she says: “I happened upon the verse in Psalm 22 that Jesus was quoting that moment on the cross. As I read through the entire psalm, I was greatly interested to realize that it is actually like a Christian Science treatment, handling the beliefs of failure and discouragement through prayer” (see p. 9). And our own Editor, Dorothy Estes, picked this issue to share how she prayed during her husband’s hospital stays and after he passed on. She never gave up on God’s promise that His children will “never see death” and says of her husband, “Whenever I think of him, I only feel the joy of knowing he lives” (see p. 8).

We may enjoy eating a chocolate bunny. But eternal life. Wow. Now that’s what this occasion has always been about. Easter blessings to each one of you!
