My jaw actually fell open when I saw an article about the Burning Man event in Nevada in the November 5 Sentinel [Michael Morgan, “Seekers unite at a ‘Burning Man’ festival”]. I never expected to see “that” in the Sentinel! Those less informed about the event might have an impression of it as just another festival for hedonism and debauchery, but Michael Morgan did a great job of explaining its basis in community, sharing, and purification. I was there this year, too. I’m very impressed with the progressive, open-minded spirit of the Christian Science foundation and churches that supported the idea of a Christian Science lecture at Burning Man. Thanks to the Sentinel for printing such a unique article.
