Guided by a holy purpose

After being single for a long time, I was swept off my feet by a very kind and generous man. It all happened rather quickly. Even so, I was sure that this new relationship was God-inspired and directed. There were differences in age and geographic locations, but a unity existed in our love for God and Christian Science.

Not long into our marriage, while praying one day, I felt a clear and deep assurance that our being brought together and marrying was for a higher and holier purpose than just the wonderful companionship we shared. I knew that this inspired thought was God’s, divine Love’s, angel message being sent to me “to comfort, guard and guide” (Violet Hay, Christian Science Hymnal, Hymn 9). But what was this “higher and holier purpose”? For some time, I wondered about this.

The next couple of years were filled with moving, making new friendships, church activity, reuniting with Jim’s estranged son, and traveling.
