Climb for those views of freedom
What does self-completeness mean to you? To me, it’s rising in an inner satisfaction, a quiet peace and confidence independent of life’s circumstances—and the climb is worth it! I’m learning that as we better understand God as a caring Father-Mother, and ourselves as God’s loved children, the perfect spiritual reality of creation becomes visible, much like a stunning view becomes visible as we gain altitude on a hike.
In this expanded understanding of God, we find that we don’t need to rely on another person to fill us up. Science and Health says: “As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible, will become visible. When we realize that Life is Spirit, never in nor of matter, this understanding will expand into self-completeness, finding all in God, good, and needing no other consciousness” (p. 264). We can truly find all that we need by actively seeking God’s reality.
Several years ago, I had been dating a man for more than five years and was certain he would become my husband. When the relationship ultimately didn’t work out, however, I was devastated. I felt I had wasted many years and that I might be too old to find the right partner.
