Divine wisdom—accessible to all

For the lesson titled "Mind" from August 15- 21, 2011

The Golden Text for this week’s Bible Lesson, titled “Mind,” declares that “God knoweth” (II Cor. 11:11). The Lesson is full of references from both the Bible and Science and Health based on the premise that true wisdom originates not in man but in God, or the divine Mind, whom man—meaning both men and women—reflects. Science and Health explains: “He [man] has been forever in the eternal Mind, God; but infinite Mind can never be in man, but is reflected by man. The spiritual man’s consciousness and individuality are reflections of God” (p. 336, citation 3).

What does God’s “knowing” look like in our experience? The Lesson shows how we each reflect specific God-qualities and attributes—such as intelligence, wisdom, understanding, spiritual consciousness, spiritual sense, perception, comprehension, endurance, insight, and perspicacity.

Solomon, a king of Israel, was known far and wide for these kinds of qualities. Six defining moments throughout his reign are covered in six of the eight sections in this Lesson. Five of them show the great good for all of Israel that came when Solomon obeyed the First Commandment and put his worship of God above all else.
