My marriage was saved

About two years ago, numerous incidents and crises occurred that rocked the very foundation of my family and marriage. The loss of a job that I’d had for over 11 years and spent far too much time focusing on, the passing of a very close family member, a rift with my mother, and significant financial stress all contributed to a breakdown in our family harmony. Wallowing in self-pity and doubt in my own abilities further exacerbated an already difficult situation, causing significant strain in my relationship with my wife.

We sought help from traditional forms of couples counseling, and tried to work through our issues by focusing on our children and finding a harmonious path back to each other. However, for many reasons, the strain proved too much for the relationship to bear. We decided to separate and began living apart. Neither one of us wanted the marriage to end, but we saw little hope of reconciliation. With divorce looming, I turned to God and Christian Science as my last salvation.

While I was not a follower of Christian Science initially during our marriage, my wife had been raised in it, and often turned to her faith to help guide her through difficult times, family crises, and the occasional health issue.
