Nothing in God’s universe could harm me

By the spring of 1986, I had been living with symptoms of allergies for many years. I suffered from foods, pets, flowers, trees, and dust. I had grown up with allergy pills for the itching and rashes, and always had a pocketbook full of tissues. I was usually sick nearly every weekend, and for a few years had been on a very limited diet.

I didn’t know anything about Christian Science at that point in my life. As a young wife I spent a good deal of time singing for Jewish congregations. And because of my allergies, they made sure there were no flowers (no real ones, anyway) in the synagogue when I sang. During that time I read a modern translation of the New Testament, and determined that I would also read the Quran, the Book of Mormon, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures in order to have a more complete picture of God.

When I started reading Science and Health that spring, I realized right away that it was helping me. I usually had lots of trouble breathing at that time of year, but had absolutely no trouble whatsoever whenever I was reading Science and Health.
