Impelled to ‘go and help’

Truly, my entry into Christian Science nursing was not of my own desire or design! God graciously directed me and prepared me for His work.

I was trained as a medical nurse, but began to question early on if this was the vocation for me. It seemed that I spent a lot of time attending to the physical needs of my patients but had little time to “minister” to them, if you will. I worked for a year, never tried my registration exams, and left nursing altogether.

After that, I followed different business career paths over the next 20 years or so. The most important event during this time was that my husband and I became students of Christian Science. We began to apply what we were learning to all aspects of our lives and had many healings through prayer alone—from those of flu, allergies, and back problems, to financial concerns, job loss, home relocation, and work-related problems.
