Prayer brings a musical theater production out of the woods

First appeared as a web original on September 20, 2006

When my daughter Christie was a senior, she participated in her high school’s production of Steven Sondheim’s musical Into the Woods.

From the summer before the production, the students enthusiastically learned the music and prepared for tryouts. Once rehearsals began, anticipation grew as cast and crew memorized songs, blocked staging, created sets and costumes.

Every night at supper Christie had more rehearsal stories to share. Students and faculty were looking forward to presenting the play in the newly built performing arts center.
