School and spiritual supply
About eight years ago, I had just graduated from high school and wanted to test my wings in the “real world.” I had my eye on a college in Colorado, and wanted to begin attending school there in the fall. But I also thought it would be wise for me to first spend a year living there, to ensure that I would be eligible for in-state tuition the following year.
As I prayed about my future, I sought a sense of direction, thinking, “OK, God, I’m Yours. Let me know what I need to do.” And every so often the “still small voice” would come and sometimes forcefully say, “Apply to college now.” But every time this happened, I reasoned that it was too late in the year to apply and be accepted for fall admittance.
During this time I started working two jobs, as well as cleaning people’s homes to save money for the trip to Colorado (my parents weren’t able to assist me financially). For four months, I eagerly saved money for my move, but by August I still had not found a place to live in Colorado, or roommates with whom I could split rent. My plans just weren’t working out.
