Burns quickly healed
My granddaughter and I were busy in the kitchen getting supper ready. Suddenly the pot of oil that we’d been heating exploded, and we were both coated with the hot liquid.
I held Lauren’s hands as I assured her that we were both all right and that right at that moment we were where we always are—in “the secret place of the most High,” safely covered and divinely protected (see Ps. 91:1, 4). We had not been touched by something that could harm us as God’s loved children.
Earlier that day I had been thinking about a phrase found in a hymn—“He knows the angels that you need, / And sends them to your side, / To comfort, guard and guide” (Violet Hay, Christian Science Hymnal, No. 9). Those angel messages were instantly present to show me gently, but firmly, that we were both unharmed and why that was true.
