Protected from injury, challenges resolved
Several years ago, I experienced God’s protection in a most unforgettable way.
It was a cold night, and I had gone to church for the Wednesday evening testimony meeting. That particular service felt especially peaceful to me, even though at that point, I was dealing with some challenges both at work and at home. Still, I knew deep down that none of these obstacles were or could be born of a loving God, for God is Love itself, as the Bible teaches (see I John 4:8). The only life these challenges could have would have to come from my endorsement of them. As a result of this reasoning, I chose not to endorse them; instead, I fixed my thought on God as divine Love and all good, and there I let it rest. That thought gave me comfort, peace, and a growing sense of spiritual dominion. The Bible Lesson that week reinforced this idea train, and had provided the inspiration for me to go to church with a full heart—a heart full of gratitude for the infinitude of God’s blessings.
After that inspiring Wednesday evening service, I left the church alone through a rear exit to the sloping asphalt parking lot. It was an icy night, and I marched out of the church with booted feet and both hands full. The next thing I knew my feet were in the air. My head went down first, then my shoulders, then the rest of me. It all happened so fast.
