A blessing for all
Pregnancy and childbirth—our topic for this week’s Sentinel—are an established, inescapable part of the human experience. There’s a lot of information out there on the physical, medical, technological, and emotional aspects of birth.
As a result, it’s sometimes hard to remember that focusing on the spiritual side of childbirth and pregnancy brings its own rewards, and that with this prayerful preparation, the biological changes, and even the delivery itself, can bless every member of the family.
Mother-of-three Ingrid Peschke confirms this approach in the opening paragraphs of her lead article (p. 6). She writes: “Understanding metaphysical concepts related to pregnancy and childbirth is an important exercise for any spiritual thinker, whether mother or father, grandparent, adoptive parent, or even someone who isn’t ever planning to have children.”
