How do Bible stories help you today?
Several kids from the Christian Science Sunday School in Petoskey, Michigan, shared with the Sentinel how different Bible stories have helped them. They’ve learned that God takes care of us in all sorts of ways. And even though the people in the Bible lived a long time ago, God helps us now just as He helped people then.
The story of Adam and Eve (Genesis 3) reminds me that we should never listen to evil, or bad ideas. We should always listen to God. Once when it was a sunny morning, I heard a small voice that said, “Take a raincoat!” Then I heard another voice that said, “Don’t take a raincoat, you don’t need one!” Well, it did look sunny, but there were a few dark dark clouds in the distance. So I decided it was a good idea to take a raincoat. And do you know what happened? It rained!

The story of Noah and the Ark (Genesis 6–8) helps me understand God better. In the story, a big flood is going to come. Noah listens to what God tells him to do and builds an ark for his family, the animals, and himself. They stayed in there until the flood was over. Noah didn’t take anybody else on the ark, because they didn’t believe him. God protected Noah and his family, so I know God can protect me, too.
