A sailor's prayer

You are the ship that bears me on.
You are the encircling ocean.
You are the horizon, ever beyond.
You are the stillness, You are the motion.

You are the wind that fills my sails.
You are the land I roam to.
You are a beacon whose light never fails.
You are the port I come home to.

I once sailed for treasure and lost my way.
On a raging sea, through endless night
I wandered alone, adrift, astray.
Then you showed me Your face,
and all was right.
Your grace illumined my darkened world.
Your love breathed through me;
my soul unfurled.

You are the rhythm of wave and tide.
You are the gift of each morning new.
You are my compass, my steadfast guide.
You are God, and my treasure is You.
