LETTERS

How heartwarming to see Kim Shippey's comment about my esteemed and affectionate Western Australian friend, Neil Millar, in Mr. Shippey's "Upfront" introduction in the Sentinel of October 18 ["Success, not failure"].

About 45 years ago, while I was visiting Neil and his loyal, supportive wife Agnes, the first acceptance of his article by The Christian Science Monitor arrived amidst tears of relief and gratitude, after many rejection slips. Then followed many years of dedication to the Monitor and numerous Christian Science activities in Boston by both Agnes and Neil.

Mr. Shippey's reference to Neil's practical experience of proving that "defiance of failure is a victory already" is greatly appreciated.
