RECURRING SYMPTOMS GONE

This testimony is long overdue. I cherish it because it has been a milestone in my growth in Christian Science. I've shared it several times at Wednesday evening testimony meetings at church, but I have never put it in writing until now.

It happened many years ago. For some time I had fought an annual battle with symptoms of strep throat. Early each summer the problem returned, and I couldn't eat, swallow, or talk. And I lost days of work or play. Each time, I did call a Christian Science practitioner for help, and I was indeed very grateful for comforting encouragement and did get relief from the pain. It would go away, and then I'd forget about it until the next year when it challenged me again.

Then there came one instance in particular. My family had left to spend Memorial Day weekend at our lakeside cabin, and I was alone at home feeling ill and sorry for myself. I read the Christian Science Bible Lesson, wondering why prayer didn't work for me. As the day advanced, I called my dear friend the practitioner.
