LETTERS

I'm very grateful for Curt Wahlberg's article on prayerful approaches to environmental concerns in the April 23 issue of the Sentinel ["Jesus"]. For some time I've been learning more about environmental challenges, as well as taking steps to live a "greener" life. I've come to realize that for this effort to be truly effective, it has to grow out of continuing spiritual progress—both individually and collectively.

For some reason, my April 16 issue arrived after I'd read the one dated April 23. When I saw it, I was filled with gratitude for what to me was a continuing conversation under the cover feature "Living waters for dry lands," with the contributions from Beverly Goldsmith, Abigail Mackay, and Thomas Black. Infinite Mind does supply all good, and humanity can express that Mind in wise and loving use of the resources we have.

I recall reading that Mary Baker Eddy asked her students to do specific prayerful work about inclement weather, addressing it as a manifestation of mortal mind claiming that there can be conditions outside of God's harmonious government of the universe. A dedicated Christian Scientist recently reminded me not to get caught up in dire predictions about environmental catastrophes, just as we would not be impressed by a dire medical prognosis.
