'WHEN THE FEAR WAS ERASED, I WAS HEALED'

When I called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me in the spring of 2004, I hadn't called one in a year and a half, and during that time, I had been in a hospital for medical attention.

Prior to my hospital stay, I had prayed with various practitioners for several years. But my health had continued to deteriorate — breathing was very labored, I couldn't sleep, and I could walk only a few steps without sitting down. So I yielded to my family's desires that I seek medical care. It was a very difficult time for me, although the medical care I received was so tender, and the doctors and nurses were respectful of my religious convictions and the resulting conflict.
