Like a pearl
Some of you wrote to tell us you enjoyed the article in the March 29, 2004, kids' Sentinel by poet Lyn Hoopes. And you sent in your own poems. Here are two of them.
This is what Erin says about her poem: "I am 13, and have written about a dozen poems myself.
"Ms. Hoopes's article was inspiring, and I liked reading about how she gets ideas for poetry and how she visits schools to encourage kids to write. The poems she shared were beautiful! Her style of writing is creative and unique. I wrote a poem based on the photo in the Sentinel of a white seashell surrounded by and filled with Starbursts. I hope you like it!"
