Forgiveness at the potluck

We had a potluck party at our house. My dad rented a jumper. A jumper is an air-filled, blow-up castle that you can jump in.

At the party, there was a boy who wasn't obeying the rules—he was climbing the walls of the castle. My dad told him to stop climbing the walls. He did not listen. Dad told my sister and me to try to get him down, so we started to tickle his toes. He got really mad and started punching and kicking us. He grabbed my hair and pulled a chunk out. Dad saw what had happened and told him to get out. He was not allowed to jump any more that day. My head hurt, but I wanted to forgive him anyway, I decided to think of him as one of God's perfect children. After dinner he came up to me and told me he was really sorry. I knew that by forgiving him, I was expressing God's love.

I asked Dad if he would let him go in the jumper again. My dad asked me why I would let him in again after what he had done to me. I told Dad it was the right thing to do. I wanted him to have another opportunity to obey the rules and have fun. My dad told me he didn't think that would grow my hair back, but he let him back in.
