Attitude

It's my twelfth double twist,
and I've yet to stick one.
Seems too much of a challenge;
it seems no longer fun.

But I pull up my chin,
and I try just one more.
I flip through the air,
and my feet touch the floor.

I look down at the ground,
and I find that I'm standing!
Not only that,
but it's a perfect landing!

I look at my coach,
and she's proud as can be.
But I can't help but wonder,
What changed inside me?

Did I pull my arms harder?
Was my punch more aggressive?
No, the only thing changed
was just my perspective.

I stopped saying, "I can't;"
I kicked into full gear.
I put on a smile
and wiped away that tear.

So when the ropes get too hard,
or your back-talk gets rude,
try fixing one thing:
It's your attitude.
