The nurse's office
I am now in the seventh grade, attending Eastern Middle School in Riverside, Connecticut. One morning, when I was in the sixth grade, I felt slightly nauseous. I still went to school, however, thinking that it would eventually wear off. Unfortunately, I felt worse and worse as the day went on. I couldn't concentrate on my work.
Feeling the need to rest, I asked for a pass to see the nurse. I sat down in her office and told her my name and grade. She asked me what was wrong, and I said that my stomach ached and I felt very dizzy. She told me she would take my temperature.
"I am a Christian Scientist," I said, unsure if she had heard of this religion. The nurse told me that she remembered talking with my mother before I started school. Two years ago, another parent, who was also a Christian Scientist, had given the nurse a copy of Science and Health. She asked me if I would like to read it. I was surprised but grateful. I knew that reading Science and Health would heal me.
