A special surprise
I want to tell you about a girl I know who really let her light shine. Her name is Emily, and she's eight years old. This is her story.
Just a little before Emily's eighth birthday, she was playing with two of her friends, Breanna and Shelby. Breanna is a foster child. If you don't know, a foster child is a boy or a girl whose mom and dad can't take care of him or her for some reason. So a foster parent pitches in and helps to make a home for the foster kid.
While the three girls were playing, Breanna told Emily and Shelby about what it's like to be a foster child. She said she missed her mom, who was in jail. And she also said that she was sometimes sad because she didn't have very many clothes to wear or toys to play with.
