'As I was reading the Christian Science Bible Lesson for Thanksgiving 2004, I came across these passages in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: "As aforetime, the spirit of the Christ, which taketh away the ceremonies and doctrines of men, is not accepted until the hearts of men are made ready for it" (p. 131); and, "His (Jesus') proof of Christianity was no form or system of religion and worship, but Christian Science, working out the harmony of Life and Love" (p. 26).
Those passages stood out to me. I heard them telling me that it is not my job or mission to convert others to Christian Science or to convince them of the veracity and permanence of Truth as we understand it. Rather it is my purpose to be like john the Baptist, "a voice crying in the wilderness." The Comforter will "bring all things to our remembrance."
And I feel that this Comforter is Christian Science.
