Painful gums healed

One morning a few years ago, I woke up with a very painful condition in my gums. For a day or two I had ignored this condition, but now it had intensified so that I could no longer enjoy my food.

I was not keen on taking drugs for relief, because I did not like the taste of the medicine. As I walked into my mother's room that day, my eyes rested on a book titled Science and Health. It had been in the room for some time, but it had never really caught my attention the way it did this day. The other words in the book's title — with Key to the Scriptures — were even more interesting to me. I wanted to know how "Science" could explain my case, but even more, I wanted to know the connection between Science and the Scriptures.

I immediately began to read, and could not put the book down. I had not found just a book, but the Truth that makes us free. As I read the book, the pain in my gums slowly lessened, and all I remember is again enjoying my food.
