Comfort comes from God
A bad habit vanishes like a puff of smoke.
One day, after I handed my baby girl, Emily, to a friend. my friend said, "Phew, smoky baby."
Could it have been my 26-year smoking habit? My friend's comment got my attention. Aside from the good it would do me to quit, I didn't want this bad habit to have any unhealthy effect on my kids.
But willpower just didn't work for me. A book that was new to me at the time, Science and Health, introduced to me the concept of spiritual power as a resource for healing. One of the ideas it gave me was that God loves me and wants only good for me. Smoking clearly was not good. So it seemed OK to trust that He would help me to eliminate this habit from my life.
