It was the last job I wanted to take...

Almost daily, we read about it in the newspapers. Recession has hit. The job market is tightening. More layoffs are on the way. Unemployment rates are rising. People are worried about their jobs. Will they have a paycheck next week, next month? If unemployed, will they be able to find a new job?

All of this reminds me of when I was a senior in college. I had a difficult time figuring out what kind of work to go into after I graduated. I couldn't find a job I was enthused about taking.

I'd been raised on the family farm in Washington State, and my dad wanted me to come home after college to take over management of the business. But I didn't want to go back to the farm. When I left home for the university, I was absolutely determined that I would never return to the ranch. That wasn't the life for me. I was sure of it.
