YOUR LETTERS

"It's changed!"

I used to send my daughter a Sentinel subscription. She is married and has a family. She enjoyed it but felt she was too busy to have the subscription, and we agreed I wouldn't send it anymore.

The recent issue about alcohol [June 25] was so inspiring that I felt she would enjoy reading the way so many young people worked out this problem (she doesn't have a problem with alcohol but has been around so many that do). I had not shared any individual issues with her for a very long time as she had been moving and was getting settled.

Today we talked on the phone, and she, I think, brought up the fact that she had finally had time to sit down and read the Sentinel and was really grateful for the articles. Her next comment was something to the effect "I really like to read the Sentinel now. It's changed."

Issue on beauty meets needs

Instantaneous healing is "alive and well" in the pages of the Sentinel! I had reached out to God time and time again for a way to be able to "see correctly" someone with whom I had a personality conflict. It was important to me that this be healed, but progress seemed nil, and there seemed to be something I either could not or would not get past.

In Curt Snider's article, "Beauty replaces the beast" in the August 6 issue, I was struck by the thought that came to him in a time of dire need: "There is no unbeautifulness in man." As I read this, suddenly warmth and love and a sense of true appreciation for the person with whom I was concerned flooded my consciousness—as exquisitely as sunbeams—and the previous dark wall of thought simply fell! I saw through and beyond the error to the person's true spiritual identity. I received a loving phone call from the individual very soon after. Further (as the author experienced), that same clear thought brought relief a few days later to a physical challenge!

The thought, "There is no unbeautifulness in God, in Soul, so there is no unbeautifulness in man," in the issue of August 6 proved to be very practical as well as inspiring. It's wonderful to be able to recognize that real beauty is within and has nothing to do with outward appearances or behavior.

Last night I turned on the TV and heard the end of a story about a motorcyclist who had his face surgically rebuilt after an accident. This morning I opened up the August 6 issue to the article "Like a fighter who won his fight" by Nelson Burris. His story of his complete healing through prayer alone was just what I needed to help me gain a more metaphysical view of this situation, and to shift my thought from the physical to the purely spiritual nature of man, and the practical effectiveness of Christian Science healing. I'm so grateful for the timely articles, features, and testimonies in the Sentinel and your other publications.
