Some months ago, during a soccer match, my opponent and I jumped up to head a ball, and collided forcefully into each other. I got the worst of the encounter. His elbow rammed my lip into my teeth, and I ended up with two cuts, one inside and one outside my mouth.

My first impulse was to blame my opponent.
