A ROLLERBLADING GREAT-GRANDMOTHER?
When my granddaughter was in grade school, she gave me a gift I found quite amusing—a mug with "Grandma" printed under a stereotypical grandmotherly face topped with white hair drawn up in a bun. My granddaughter is married now and had a baby last year—so now I'm a great-grandmother. And how should a great-grandmother behave?
Last year I bought myself a basketball. I strap it to a rack on my bicycle and ride to the neighborhood park to shoot baskets. I also bought a pair of rollerblades (along with all the protective padding) and an instruction book I found on the Internet. Once a week or so, I enjoy the whoosh of wheels under my feet and wind on my cheeks as I pick up speed on my blades.
