THREE ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK

At one time I was a sales representative for a commercial design firm in Detroit, Michigan. There were 16 employees plus the owner-manager, who was a very competent woman.

When a big recession hit, our company was affected. Each week the owner met with one of the employees, and after each meeting that employee was let go.

This went on for weeks, until there were only three of us left.
