Science and Health changes a life
I grew up as what most people would call an atheist or, more generously, an agnostic. I did not believe in a higher power. My family lived honestly and ethically, but believed that one could depend only on oneself.
Then, 21 years ago, I went to the doctor for my usual annual checkup. I was shocked when he said that I had an internal growth. A diagnostic test confirmed this. The doctor told me that I must have immediate surgery —that otherwise, the growth might turn into cancer, and I could die.
I sought the opinions of two other physicians. They agreed with the original diagnosis and recommended immediate surgery. I was terrified.
