Humility leads to freedom

In the spring of 1998 I was overcome by a weakness in my legs that left me unable to walk normally. I was in a great deal of pain as well, which often woke me during the night. Then, I would get up, and turn in prayer to God. After praying for myself for nearly a month—and being grateful for every ounce of inspiration that I found—I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for more help.

For a couple of days there was still no physical change. But on the third day of praying with the practitioner, a flood of inspiration came to me from this statement in Science and Health: "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony" (p. 390).
