To Our Readers

A FRIEND OF MINE (call him Sam) says his earliest memories of his father are far from pleasant. "I was always on the wrong end of my dad's belt," he says, remembering the frequent whippings he'd had as he was growing up. The long shadow of those memories followed him far into his adult years. Deep down, he knew his father loved him. But their relationship continued to be strained, to say the least. Then, when his mother died, he felt really alone.

About that time, Sam launched an all-out spiritual search that led him to investigate various Christian and Eastern faiths, and eventually Christian Science. Through this search, he came to realize and accept that God is his real Father. A Father who loves him and would never hurt him. A Father he can love and trust forever.

Somehow, just realizing this had a transforming effect on Sam's relationship with his dad. Now, they're best friends, and Sam spends many hours each week helping to take care of his dad.
