Child's burned hand healed

On January 2, 2000, I had a healing. I was helping my mother make dinner, and I picked up a pan that had just come from the oven, forgetting that it was very hot. I felt excruciating pain, and I dropped the pan. I put my hand in cold water.

I went to my mother and asked her what I could do to get my hand to stop hurting. She took me to a quiet place, and then I remembered something I had learned in Sunday School. Mary Baker Eddy wrote it: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). We talked about what every word of that statement meant. I guess I'd never thought about it that way before. We read some hymns, too, including two by Mrs. Eddy: " 'Feed My Sheep,' " which begins, "Shepherd, show me how to go," and "Mother's Evening Prayer," which begins, "O gentle presence, peace and joy and power" (see Christian Science Hymnal, Nos. 304, 207). Very soon I didn't feel any pain.

My hand didn't hurt at all. It was sort of like turning on the light—all the darkness went away. I knew I'd been healed, healed by God.
