The mixed-up reservation that wasn't

Following God's direction sometimes leads to surprising blessings.

There was a mix-up at the hotel. Reservations had been made weeks in advance, but a nonsmoking room didn't seem to be available for me. I waited patiently while the desk clerks tried their best to find me an appropriate room. I was glad that gratitude (just for the privilege of being there in that lovely hotel lobby) filled my heart instead of impatience or frustration. That was progress for me.

After a long wait, I was told I would simply have to accept a smoking room. I agreed because I'd been traveling since early that morning, so any room sounded pretty good to me at that point.

While I was riding the elevator up to the room, a familiar verse from the Christian Science Hymnal came to thought: "In atmosphere of Love divine, / We live, and move, and breathe" (No. 144). I had reached the room and was about to unlock the door when suddenly it swung open.
