Prayer brings physical and mental healing

One day I suddenly felt burdened by an old, familiar fog in my consciousness. For years I had suffered in connection with the menstrual cycle. I was fearful that, as in the past, I would soon be unable to make even the most simple decisions and would be rendered incapacitated for all practical purposes.

I was working at our church store and library, the Christian Science Reading Room. I was desperately trying to be healed so I could reopen the store. I pleaded with God, "I must read the Bible, please!" Though I was clutching a Bible, I could not read.
