Prayer heals bladder infection

In 1996 I had been ill with a bladder infection for several days, and I was very uncomfortable. I asked myself: Is not God my defender? Is He not smart enough to win me my freedom? Is He mean, so that He could look the other way while I suffered? I reasoned it was easier to press on with my prayer with the Christian Science practitioner I had called than to conceive of omnipotent Love as mean or weak.

One night the pain seemed very hard to bear. I got up and began straightening the house. At 6 a.m., the local high school called and asked if I would substitute for an English class. I drove to the school uncomfortable, but not discouraged. I discovered the classes would all be quietly writing compositions. Throughout the day, I made strong affirmations of my purity in the face of the evil picture of disease. The pain lessened gradually, but two mornings later it came rushing back. At this moment I rose up mentally and said calmly, "But I don't believe in immanent evil." The pain went away at once. The next day elimination became normal.
