Prayer heals inflammation
When I woke up one morning, I noticed a series of small lumps along the right side of my face around the temple and ear. I was quite concerned. Immediately I confronted the fear, knowing that "perfect love casteth out fear" (I John 4:18), and that I should not be impressed with this physical condition.
However, the next night was painful. When I woke, the right side of my face was all puffed up, and the condition looked worse. I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment through prayer. She reminded me that this was not so much a material condition that needed correcting as it was a manifestation of thought. The truth about me cannot be infected. Mortal mind can't get into Truth.
I had several things that I had to do that day, and when I met my daughter for lunch, she was concerned about my appearance. I kept affirming, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Ps. 46:10) and, "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest" (Ex. 33:14).
