Would God delight in His work, while at the same time planning its future destruction?
Will the world end?
Or are there new beginnings every moment?
As the year 2001 approaches, people may be planning special occasions, this time to celebrate the "official" beginning of a new millennium. Over the past two years, there have been various retrospective views of the 1900s that have made projections about what we can expect in the new millennium.
Science and techonology have often been the focus, along with hoped-for advances that will give people better lives. The desire for peace among nations and within nations has been a strong theme. And overall, there's been a feeling that the best is yet to come in many areas of human development.
In sharp contrast to these expectations, other people are making arrangements for what they believe will be the end of the world. They say that the kingdom of God will come and a new era for humanity will begin.
