Mortality or life?

Some time ago when a tragic shooting occurred at a church service in Texas, a news commentator in my area noted that a sad event like that "alerts you to accept your own mortality." But is that the best response? Should death ever be unthinkingly accepted as proof that the beauty, goodness and continuity of life has to end?

Jesus showed a better way. His understanding and conviction of the immortality of God's creation must have been unwavering. The fact that he raised people from the dead illustrated that there was something more powerful than death.

There are ways to put this power to work in our own lives, and to see more of the evidence of endless and ever-active life—even if we aren't raising the dead like Jesus did. According to Jesus' teachings, God is ours abundantly, eternally. We can each start gaining a better understanding of our true make-up as the immortal expression of the infinite Life that is God.
