Flower power
A lesson learned from daffodils in April.
Spring was having a difficult time arriving in Northern California. Even though it was the middle of April, we were still having flurries. But on the hillside, about 50 courageous daffodils had bloomed. These flowers amaze me every year by bearing up against a hearty frost, even a hard freeze.
One morning, however, I looked out the window after four inches of snow had fallen.
"What a shame," I thought. "This snow is just too much for them. And to think that they were open for only a few days. ..."
