Q A

Q What does your Church do for the local community?

A It makes its biggest contribution through healing. This includes praying to heal community ills such as crime, drug addiction, and sexual and child abuse. In addition to the regular Sunday worship and Sunday School, the Church offers public lectures on topics of concern, and addresses such issues in daily, weekly, and monthly publications. Each Wednesday, public healing services are held on pertinent issues in the community. Churches and individual members are actively involved in a wide range of community affairs. In addition, churches sponsor Christian Science Reading Rooms, which give the public regular access to the Bible, the Christian Science textbook, and the literature published by The Christian Science Publishing Society.

Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, established the Church of Christ, Scientist, "to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing."
