The day a junco flew into the window

God cares for all His creatures.

WHEN OUR TWO girls were little, a junco, which is a small songbird, flew into the large living room window. It lay stunned on the deck. When we brought it into the house away from the curious dog, there appeared to be something wrong with the bird's neck, which was pinned against its wing.

During the time when this occurred, I had been doing some spiritual study, learning lessons about God based on some of His names, such as Love, Father, Spirit, and so forth. I was identifying qualities associated with each synonym, using the dictionary and a thesaurus. Gaining a better understanding of these qualities, together with looking for their expression wherever I could, was helping me feel the omnipotence and omnipresence of God in a more intimate and demonstrable way.

Also at this time, my daughters had been talking about angels in Sunday School. Science and Health explains angels as, "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality" (p. 581). They knew that God, Mind, provides the angel message, the spiritual truth, needed for healing or the correction of any condition.
